Few things are more satisfying than munching on a bowl of popcorn as you watch TV or your favorite movie. But plain, buttered popcorn can get a little boring after a while. Here are three tasty popcorn snack recipes you can whip up in a hurry to add some variety to your snacking.
Cheesy Mustard Popcorn
This cheesy popcorn tastes just like the kind you buy at the mall or in tins at Christmastime. It calls for cheddar cheese powder, which you can find from many online popcorn and snack suppliers.
Ingredients:
- 6 cup popped popcorn
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Combine the cheddar cheese powder, mustard and salt in a bowl. Stir, and set aside. In a second bowl, drizzle the butter over the popcorn and stir to coat. Then, transfer the popcorn to a paper bag. Pour in the cheese coating while shaking the bag. Roll the top of the bag over, and shake it vigorously to distribute the coating. Enjoy!
Quick Caramel Corn
Traditional caramel corn can take hours to make, but this quick recipe tastes almost as good and comes together in a snap.
Ingredients:
- 6 cups popped popcorn
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 20 caramel candies, unwrapped
- 2 tablespoons milk
Spray a serving bowl with non-stick spray, and place the popcorn inside. Season it with the salt, and set it aside.
In a saucepan, combine the caramels and milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the caramels are completely melted. Drizzle the hot caramel over the popcorn, and stir to distribute the caramel evenly. Let cool for about 5 minutes, and then dig in.
Italian Popcorn
When you munch on a handful of this seasoned popcorn, you won't be sure whether you're eating popcorn or garlic bread.
Ingredients:
- 6 cups popped popcorn
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
Place the popcorn in a bowl, and drizzle the butter over it. Stir to ensure the butter is distributed evenly. In a second bow, combine the Parmesan cheese, garlic, onion powder, oregano and basil. Sprinkle this mixture over the buttered popcorn while stirring. Enjoy!
If you have any of your popcorn snack leftover, store it in a sealed Ziplock bag. It should stay fresh for two to three days.
